Champions

We are delighted to announce that the Irish multi-time trial record holder John Madden will be returning as the Event Ambassador this year. With a string of amateur cycling achievements to his name, it’s fair to say there is no better man for the role.

Two of John’s biggest passions include Cycling and Education, and as principal of Roddensvale School in Larne, he has first-hand experience of the critical work the NSPCC do to support young people in the local community.

Last year John cycled on behalf of CyberSource UK who led the way in raising funds for the NSPCC. Speculation is already underway on who John will represent in this year’s cycle.

Please find a listing of some of John's impressive achievements below.

As Market Director of SQS Northern Ireland, a typical day for Rob McConnell could be described as demanding. From the numerous achievements and challenges over the years, one particular event stands out as his personal highlight – the SQS Tech Team Cycle Challenge.

The SQS Tech Team Cycle Challenge was born out of Rob’s active involvement in both the SQS Cycling Society and charitable ventures both personally and on behalf of SQS.

Being the driving force behind last year’s event, Rob is keen to replicate and build on the success, making the event an annual occurrence. With preparations well underway for 2018, the event is already gearing up to surpass 2016.

Say Hello to Team NSPCC!

"We are a small but dedicated team who work hard to support our amazing fundraising champions. The reason we come into work is because of the work NSPCC does across NI – what makes our job fantastic is working with people like you.

By taking part in the SQS Tech Team Challenge Cycle you’ll be helping us to keep children safe. The money you raise will help children rebuild their lives, and help us find more ways to help prevent abuse from ruining any more.

Thank you and if you have any questions or queries just give our department a call on 028 90 351135."

We are thrilled to be working with Gordon Parker and Alicja Cernak again this year – who were heavily involved in the event’s organisation, the planning of our cycle routes and time keeping.

Gordon and Alicja are highly-respected members of the cycling community in Northern Ireland and further afield, and are active members of Cycling Ireland and the Dunloy Cycling Club. Both were integral members of the team responsible for getting our event in place and making it the success it has been to date.

Pat O’Hare and his team have placed CRC Technologies firmly at the heart of this annual event. Last year Pat and the team not only got fully behind the event with the entry of four fantastic teams, they also got their events team working in harmony with Rob and the NSPCC team to bring an event feel to the day.

They also secured prizes beyond what any Sportif could dream about which SQS were very grateful for. Pat and the team are already in training for the 2018 event.
